This month marks three years since I came on as president and CEO of StoneArch, and all I can say is, “wow.”
How can it have been three years already? It’s amazing how time flies by so quickly. If there’s any truth to the old adage, I guess it means that I’ve been having a lot of fun!
When I came to StoneArch in 2017, I had spent the previous 10 years in corporate America and another five inside the walls of a healthcare start-up. And although I was no stranger to agency work, I wasn’t entirely sure if returning to the creative industry was a good thing for me or not.
I’d heard all of the challenges around how agency life had changed—tighter margins, expanding in-house creative teams taking on more work, challenges in employee recruitment and retention. Still, I couldn’t say no to the opportunity. I was enticed by the exclusive healthcare focus of StoneArch, its reputation for stellar work, and the opportunity to get back to real creative thinking and output that pushed the health marketing industry forward.
So, I made the leap and haven’t regretted a single moment.
As I look back, the reservations I had about stepping into this role have only served to make it more interesting and satisfying. Tighter margins and savvy in-house teams have made us work harder and smarter to be a stronger partner to our clients. Now, instead of relying on an agency for everything, our best clients come to us for the strategic partnership, fresh insights and big thinking that only we can provide.
And when I consider the challenges that agencies often face in recruiting and retaining employees, I find myself even more appreciative of StoneArch’s special niche. This is not a weak-kneed industry—it demands a depth and breadth of intellectual stimulation that is truly rare in the advertising world. And over the past three years, I’ve seen how the gravity of our work has brought deeply curious and compassionate people to StoneArch. Our team works hard every day to deliver incredible creative that can only come from a deep love of healthcare and its potential to impact peoples’ lives.
Now, as I look to the next years ahead of me and StoneArch, I am reminded that every agency is only as good as the people who choose to work there. For me, there couldn’t be a more comforting thought. With the amazing, talented, committed team members here at StoneArch, the future has never looked brighter for our company and our clients.
